2018 Baseball Bat Changes
As previously communicated, the bat rules are changing effective January 1, 2018 for Little League and all other youth leagues (excluding USSSA tournaments) across the country. Next season, ALL ROOKIES, MINORS, MAJORS, and INTERMEDIATE players will need a USA Baseball regulation bat for all league games.
NO BATS FROM LAST YEAR WILL BE LEGAL IN 2018.
All bats must meet the new bat standards and must have the new USA Baseball logo/sticker. There are several options out there, including 2 1/4″ and 2 5/8″ barrels, -11, -10, -8, -5 drops, aluminum, composite, etc. ANY of the official USA Baseball bats will be allowed in VLL. This will be a matter of preference for your individual player. If you have questions, please refer to the Little League international website or the USA Baseball approved bat list for additional information.
For our Juniors division, we will allow USA Baseball or BBCOR (High School Standards) bats in 2018. In all leagues, solid, single piece wood bats will still be allowed. 2-piece wood bats will need to meet the USA Baseball regulations. In Summary, starting next season, if the bat does not have a USA Baseball logo/sticker on it (other than solid wood or BBCOR bats in Juniors), it will not be allowed in Verona Little League games.
